Well, I wanted to title this entry “GAS Update” but feared the search engines would go crazy sending the senior citizen demographic this way, so I settled on GetAStake.com update.  I’ve missed the last few episodes of PokerSoup.tv podcast so haven’t been able to update the listeners on my progress.  When I last left off, I had just completed my first $11 stake on GAS, made  a small profit, and became comfortable with the whole staking process.  So here’s the update…

On Episode 17 with Scott Long, one of the subjects we discussed was the image of a poker player. I feel that it was an issue that was not close to being resolved. Scott then revisited the subject on his show, Ante Up. I felt the subject was brushed off to quickly and dismisses. So I want to further examine the subject.

Denver condsiders classifying poker as ‘game of skill’; WSJ and majority of US still under the table

I know I’m preaching to the choir, but…

Gary R. Reed, Colorado State Director for the Poker Players Alliance, wrote an op-ed piece for the denverpost.com recently that discussed the fact that even with the surge in poker playing over the last 10 years, whether or not our game is a game of skill, sadly, is still a debate. Site Update: New Sponsor, RSS and Twitter

If the giant graphic on the right hasn’t grabbed your attention yet, you either have ad-block installed our I’m doing something wrong.

Anyway, we’ve also added a self-promoting ad to the site’s Twitter account. We’re going all Web two-dot-oh on ya’ll. Blaz is the twit behind the tweets. Follow us!

We’ve also added a link to our RSS feed in the main navigation. Subscribe directly to our RSS feed! Subscribe directly to our RSS feed! Subscribe directly to our RSS feed! (Not as cool as head-on I guess…)

Currently we are still in the construction phase of the site, however feel free to give us any feedback. If you have a suggestion or request just start a new topic and we’ll address each one in that thread. Since Blaz isn’t cutting me a check, we’ll both be updating when we have time between our normal paying jobs and poker addiction. Enjoy!
