GetAStake.com Update

Posted by pointledge | May, 26 2009

Well, I wanted to title this entry “GAS Update” but feared the search engines would go crazy sending the senior citizen demographic this way, so I settled on GetAStake.com update.  I’ve missed the last few episodes of PokerSoup.tv podcast so haven’t been able to update the listeners on my progress.  When I last left off, I had just completed my first $11 stake on GAS, made  a small profit, and became comfortable with the whole staking process.  So here’s the update…

My second $11 stake on GAS was a heater!  I continued by playing PLO cash games at the $0.10/$0.25 level.  In three short sessions, I’d run the stake up to $51.30.  Not too shabby.  I closed that stake and pocketed 50% of profit.   This stake raised some eyebrows over on GAS and I got a lot of support from Mike, Craig, and Zorag.  It really is a community over there.

For my third $11 stake, the guys at GAS hooked me up and dropped the backers cut to 40%.  So now I got to keep more of the profit!  I ran a few more sessions on this stake, really wanting tosee if I could improve over stake #2.  Unfortunately, after running up to $42.30, I got sloppy in the last two sessions and donked off $15.  Rather than tempt the poker gods to smite me more, I closed this stake up $16.20 (60% of which was mine!).

I’m currently running my 4th $11 stake.  I took a different approach out of the starting gate and tried my hand at two $2.20 satellites into the Sunday 1/4 Million ($11 value).  After failing in both (and spending more than an hour trying!), I headed back to the cash PLO tables where I’m currently up $2.95.

This rail is worth checking out!  On my 3rd PLO cash game session, I sat down with $6.  I managed to get it all-in on the first hand (couldn’t resist trying to hit my nut flush draw for a quick triple-up!).  Unfortunately, I went busto… back to the grind.  My goal is to at least double the stake before closing it.

I have  a $6 stake when the current one finishes, and have already been approached by multiple backers that have expressed interest in me running as a horse for them.

GetAStake.com has been a welcome diversion in online poker for me.  Like changing up your game, be it tournaments, Sit-N-Go’s, or NLHE to PLO to HORSE, playing poker on someone else’s dime has given me yet another variation in online play.  So, if you’re looking for something a little different, or just want to jumpstart your bankroll, head on over to GetAStake.com and sign up for an account.  Tell them PokerSoup.tv sent you and I’ll back your first stake!
