100K Challenge Update

Posted by loser64 | June, 15 2009

It has been a while since I talked about the 100,000 hands I was going to play at the 10NL level. As a whole the level is incredibly soft. I did go on a big downswing because I played stupid but was able to recovered.I have played almost 17,000 hands and have a profit if $213. The kicker is this… at 4800 hands I was up $185 at 12,000 hands I was up a total of $66, than I rebounded.

So what happened…

Hands 1 thru 4,800:
I played tight I kept my play to 2 maybe 3 tables. I paid attention and was able to get away from 2nd place hands. My profits shot way up.

Hands 4,801 thru 12,000:

I started to believe I was unbeatable, I went to 4 tables, too many for me, I stopped worrying about position, hell I stopped worrying about my cards.

I was able to make all the clicks timely but with that much going on and a small laptop screen, I always missed something that made me call or bet into the nuts.

Hands 12,001 thru current:

I went back to 2 tables, I paid more attention, I learned that my betting amounts were too small (CBET in particular) and made the needed adjustments. I am now at an all time high in profits for this challenge.

By playing only the two tables I am able to pay better attention, and make proper calls and folds. I am able to fold AJ after I bet and get raised and called, (there has not been one time where I was ahead when this happens)

Do Not forget what Balugawhale stated… in Hold EM we make our money by value betting not bluff catching…. (Although bluff catching is more fun).

Here is the chart..
