I watched the show “This Week in Startups” last friday. This show features amature poker player Jason Calacanis. Jason was sponsored by Full Tilt poker in this year’s WSOP. I have been trying to contact Jason to get him on PokerSoup, but neither Jason or his “people” have responded to my requests. Not sure that the guy has any real skills, hopefully we can get him on the show and find out. If you don’t know Jason you can read his bio here.
It was really interesting to note that on Jason’s show he never knows the episode number. Kind of the way that I forget the episode number every week on PokerSoup. I guess great minds forget alike. The audience for this show is entrepreneurial minded people that are interested in evaluating startup ideas and learning some new insights (sometimes from Tyler). Overall the show gets your brain working. Many times when you are working on growing a business and you intently focus on things and create inattentional blindness. A show like this gives you the opportunity to engage in some higher level thinking, step back and get your creative juices flowing.
Take a look at this picture of the Connecticut State House of Representatives. This is during session while another legislator is talking and the representatives in the foreground are playing solitaire and what is that? Could it be? Playing poker on Full Tilt? The Connecticut legislature has not yet passed a budget and the state is facing crisis. So what do they do? Play poker. My tax dollars hard at work! Note that he is watching a baseball game too.

In this episode we talk to the founder of the Twitter Poker Tour.

Blazman, Snuffy, Zooks, and Jerry talk about the Ante Up poker cruise. Over all a fantastic trip, in spite of some collusion and douchbaggery on the part of Sam Minutello.

I have never been on a cruise before. I have to say that it was one of the best vacations that I have ever had. I brought my whole family including my in-laws. The cruise line(Carnival) provides activities for the kids (9 yrs. and 2 yrs.) all day long with the exception of some breaks for the providers to eat and take a little break.
We arrived in Tampa on Wednesday and stayed at the Marriot at the airport. Somehow my wife got us into the VIP club which entitled us to go to the lounge on the 6th floor and participate in the happy hour and the free breakfast, definitely a nice little perk.
After dinner Gambit picked me up and we headed over to Derby Lane. Derby Lane is a really nice room with a fantastic atmosphere and horrible No-Limit Hold’em players. I like to try to put people on hands which is not possible, but all you have to do is put yourself in a spot where you are likely to be good and get it all in. The opportunities are so frequent that you don’t have to be right all that often to make money.
I was dumb enough to get up from NLH table thinking that the Omaha H/L table would be just as soft. It was not. There were 2 soft spots at this table and seemed like I was unable to get any money from them.
If anyone can find a worse sharkscope than this guy I will give you a free PokerSoup.tv hat!!! One winner u have till Monday.

OMG I was on youtube today with my 9 year old and stumbled upon these two videos of Chris and Scott. I am not even sure why this is funny. But it is.
